			L.W.  Try
acupuncture as a last resort to delay surgery for ovarian cysts.
I went to Acupuncturist Jannie Chiang for acupuncture as a last
resort to try and delay abdominal surgery for ovarian cysts.  I was
in debilitating pain, unable to sleep, with an extremely distended
stomach.  Additionally, I was steadily gaining weight, and was 80
            pounds over my normal weight.
            After one acupuncture session with
            Acupuncturist Jannie Chiang
            my pain was greatly decreased.
Acupuncturist Jannie Chiang also completely changed my diet, and gave me herbs to
shrink the ovarian cysts and also to assist in weight loss.  I
returned the next day for an additional acupuncture session, and
have been totally pain free ever since.  Also, I lost 9 pounds in
the first five days of treatment.
            My pain is
gone!  I feel wonderful, my stomach is no longer
distended, and I am steadily losing weight with the changes in my
            diet. Thank you Jannie Chiang!

			PCOS- Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Polycystic ovary syndrome caused by hormonal
imbalance.  There are high levels of androgens (male hormone)
produced in a female.  The abnormal high androgens levels  interrupt
and prevent ovaries from producing normal levels of progesterone.
This causes irregular menstrual periods, and makes undeveloped
follicles turn into small ovarian cysts which prevent ovulation.
PCOS often begin at childbearing age. PCOS can
cause infertility, difficult to get pregnant. Without proper
treatments, diabetes and heart disease could be developed.
Although the cause of PCOS is unknown, but
genetics, diabetes, insulin resistant, obesity and disorders of
adrenal, pituitary or thyroid glands may play some parts.
			Symptoms of PCOS:

				- Irregular menstrual periods or no periods

				- Extra body or facial hair

				- Weight problem

				- Acnes

				- Infertility, difficult to get pregnant

				- Depression, emotional

Acupuncture and Chinese medicine apply the
natural approaches to treat PCOS. Without hormonal medication or
injection, we simply try to increase the blood flow of female
reproductive organs and furthermore build up their functions. Once
the cysts are reduced by the proper treatments and diet, the hormone
			levels are improved.
Besides the acupuncture and Chinese herb
treatment for PCOS, at Houston Acupuncture and Herb Clinic, we also
thoroughly consult each patient and develop a personalized
recommendation of diet and treatment plan for the individual needs.
